ABOUT OUR INSTRUCTORS:
CHERYL:
Cheryl Boyles
first became interested in yoga after a series of auto accidents left her
with debilitating neck and back injuries. She came away from her very
first yoga class with the conviction that she would one day become an
instructor.
Cheryl's teaching combines a variety of yoga styles,
with special emphasis on evolving the mind-body connection through use of
breathing techniques and breath-synchronized movement (Vinyasa). Using
props and offering modifications as needed, she is committed to making yoga
accessible to people of all ages and fitness levels, helping them manage stress,
increase in strength and flexibility, and correct muscular and
structural imbalances. Cheryl wholeheartedly believes consistent yoga
practice promotes healing, as evidenced by her own recovery from injury and
dependence on prescription pain medications. Passionate about wellness of body,
mind, and spirit, she considers yoga a remarkable tool for integrating
these three aspects of our being into optimal functional harmony. Cheryl
strives to express yoga as a balance of strength and
grace, facilitating a guided yoga experience of enduring
benefit.
Since
earning a
Sport Yoga certification from NESTA in 2003, Cheryl has taught many hundreds of hours
of group yoga classes and private yoga instruction while continuing
participation in yoga trainings and other avenues of yoga experience and
education. Additionally, YogaFit Training Systems Worldwide has certified
her to teach prenatal and postpartum
yoga.
ABOUT MUSIC TEACHER THOMAS
BOYLES
AARON:
Since 1982, Aaron Cooper has studied and
practiced various martial arts systems, focusing mainly on the Chinese martial
arts. Over time, his interest shifted away from the combative systems and
into healing arts, such as Taijiquan (commonly referred to as "T'ai Chi
Ch'uan"). Aaron has had the good fortune of being the student of both Sifu
Robert Lyons and Sifu Duke Cheng, and continuously expands his understanding
through regular practice. His philosophy regarding the practice of
Taijiquan is strongly grounded in the teachings of Lao Tzu, the ancient Chinese
philosopher who transcribed the Tao Teh Ching, which is a philosophical blue
print for both understanding and effectively practicing Taijiquan. In
addition to teaching the physical aspects of the art, Aaron also provides his
students with printed information regarding scientific evidence that further
expands the student's overall understanding. Aaron's motivation for
teaching is sourced in his desire to share this profound method of
self-transformation with others, so that all who learn and practice Taijiquan
can enjoy the many health benefits it has in store for them.
KELLEY:
In
1994, Kelley Foley began her healing journey. This journey has led her to
many different paths of alternative healing. She holds certifications in
Energy Medicine and Nutritional Therapy. In 1999, seeking relief from the
pain caused by a debilitating autoimmune disease, her path led her to
yoga. YogaFit Training Systems Worldwide has since certified her to teach
yoga to seniors, and children, as well as adults. She is currently
enhancing her education by working towards becoming a YogaFit Master
Trainer.
LANA:
Lana began practicing yoga about eight years ago as an alternative form of exercise with the hope that it would ease stress. Within a month, she became hooked after realizing that various back and hip tweaks that she had always lived with began to disappear. Since then, her yoga practice has slowly evolved into an ongoing journey that recently led her to obtain her yoga teacher certification at Yandara Yoga Institute in Mexico. Although her background is in vinyasa and power yoga, lately Lana's style has been more meditative. She believes that everyone has the perfect body for yoga and that it can be done at any age. Lana is RYT-200 certified.
LINDA:
Linda Hardison obtained certification in Pilates Equipment and Pilates Mat through Body Arts and Science International under the esteemed teachings of Raul Isacowitz. The Pilates approach to physical conditioning offers a gentle yet powerful path for increasing the body’s strength, flexibility, and stamina. Linda’s passion for the method was captured the moment she attended her very first Pilates class, and she knew then that she wanted to become certified to teach.
With consistency, Pilates creates a strong muscular support system
that improves stabilization of the abdomen, spine, joints, and
bones. This provides the body with a more stable
basis. That, coupled with an increase of body awareness and
balance establishes an enhanced sense of harmony and wellbeing to not only the
mind and body, but the spirit as well. Encouraging the mind, body, and spirit is the foundation on which
Linda bases her practice.
Linda is a member of Pilates Method Alliance, an
international organization that supports the continued quality of Pilates taught
by instructors certified by endorsed teaching
facilities.
A local resident
of Wrightwood, when not teaching Pilates Linda enjoys hiking, interior design,
and volunteering within the community of
Wrightwood.
